Baby Furniture

Last week, I got the wonderful call from BuyBuyBaby that our crib and dresser had arrived! So, exciting...Jonathan and I went back and forth about whether or not to invest in a crib. My mom had Samuel's crib stored away in the attic that she said we could borrow but part of me really wanted one to call my own. I wanted to be able to use it over and over again or if we didn't want to, I wanted to be able to turn it into a guest bed or toddler bed. So after much debate with ourselves, we decided to buy one of our own to use over and over again. We did, however, borrow mom's beautiful changing table and rocking chair. Our nursery is coming together...our next task is PAINTING. Which, sadly, I cannot help with :( I must trust my wonderful husband to do it perfectly. I can't do the base coat or the high gloss final coat but I can help with all the character painting that my mom will be doing on the walls. We do that with acrylic paints and they don't have fumes so yay!

Our little guy is going to be a Disney fanatic just like his mama, especially if his room is Winnie the Pooh perfect!

This is the crib we got! We didn't get the whole set cause our bedroom is definitely not big enough for that and I just don't think we need that much furniture but we did get the crib and the armoire (the beautiful piece on the left in the picture).

Our house is decked out in cherry furniture though, so we ordered it in the cherry finish:

I am excited to post lots of pictures of the progress of the nursery! We already have the comforter and bedroom set, I guess so I will start working on those pictures.

Lake James Vacation

Last week, the WHOLE family enjoyed a much needed break and headed to Lake James with the boat. We stayed at a beautiful home right on the water and enjoyed taking leisurely cruises on the water, wakeboarding, skiing, sunbathing, and swimming. It was very relaxing and a wonderful break from the hectic everyday lives we all live.

What a great trip!

Boy of Girl?!?

Jonathan and I were both very excited about going to our ultrasound on June 2nd! It was a morning of great anticipation. The last time we saw the little one on a monitor it looked more like a blob than an actual baby. After reading numerous articles, I knew that this ultrasound would actually show a baby...one with fingers and toes and arms and legs and even a nose :)

We had a very friendly technician and she walked us through the whole process explaining in detail every detail of our little babies body. As we were trying to rule out defects predominate in my family history, we were happy to keep hearing her say, "looks great!" Our little one has working kidneys, a stomach, a bladder (full of pee even), a brain that is forming correctly, arms that were wildly moving all over the place during its 10 minutes of fame and a mouth that would not stop sucking. The technician said the little one must have found some chewing gum cause it was sucking and sucking away on its thumb and whatever else it could find...ADORABLE, that definitely makes a mama wana cry.

After she surveyed the vital organs and made sure the blood flow was normal and everything was growing at a normal rate, we moved on to the extremities. The little one has all five fingers on each hand and all three bones in each pinkie as well as perfectly normal feet. My mom thinks they look rather large but everything is magnified so I don't think its true :)
All four chambers of the heart are working correctly, which is a big one...that's the main reason we were checking.

Finally, we reached the point of looking between the poor thing's legs. It was a hilarious moment actually cause there was a hand in our way for most of the hunt, obviously we have a modest baby. But....low and behold....we eventually got the small peek we wanted so bad...enough of a view to determine whether we are having a little boy or a little girl!

Let me just say this...there is no doubt about it................IT'S DEFINITELY A BOY!!!

Jonathan was so excited that he even teared up a little bit. The smile on his face stayed there for hours and I could see the pure joy illuminating his entire demeanor. That alone made my entire day but I too was very excited to learn that I have a son. Sure, I had hoped to have a girl because the fear of never having a little girl scares me a lot, BUT I have always wanted a little mama's boy. So we now know that lots of blue is in our future and the hunt for the perfect name for our perfect little guy begins. 

We are even more excited now than ever to meet him. It is feeling more and more real with every new discovery and every little kick. Pretty soon I will be a Mom and I will get to see my wonderful husband be the loving Dad he is already proving to be.

Four Month Checkup

My fabulous sister, Kelly got to go with me to my four month checkup yesterday, which was very exciting. I was so hoping that my doctor would do another ultrasound because she has done one every time I have gone. BUT, she didn't, we did get to hear the heartbeat...which is 157 beats per minute. The doctor originally thought it was a boy because of the way it was positioned in our first ultrasound, however, she changed her prediction yesterday and now thinks its a girl because it has a very fast heart rate...so it is safe to say that she is covering her bases. I was sad for Kelly cause she didn't get to see the baby but we are going to our major ultrasound with the geneticist next week so she can come to that one and finally get to see the baby! We will also be able to find out what we are having...which we are very excited about. I originally didn't want to know what we were having but I am warming up to the idea and now and very excited to know. Its a surprise whether we find out next week or at the delivery so lets leaving meeting our baby for the delivery day :)

On a negative side to our appointment yesterday, my infection still has not gone away, despite taking numerous antibiotics...so....I had to get a shot of Rocephine to boost my bacteria fighting system. I am usually pretty good with shots and since becoming pregnant and having my blood draw more than 6 times in four months, I have gotten much better with the idea of being poked BUT that shot was so painful. The prick was fine but the medicine was awful! Stinging and burning and aching lasted hours! I hope that's the last one of those that I will need for awhile. I also had my blood drawn yesterday for the genetics testing...it was a busy day!

I am very excited about the next visit...its always so amazing to see your little creation on the screen :)

16 weeks!

I am now 16 weeks along :) It doesn't seem like that long when you say it in weeks...I don't know why cause 16 is a big number. It sounds better when you say 4 months. I have been battling nausea for 4 months, I was promised by all the magazines, experts and qualified professionals that the constant feeling of wanting to vomit should be going away but I beg to differ! Thank the Lord that my doctor is still ok with giving me Zofran. I have a baby bump now, as everyone likes to refer to it, I think other people notice and point it out before I even know. It is a strange feeling when your stomach is as hard as a rock and there is nothing you can do to suck it in or work it off :)

I felt the first baby movements today, I am positive that there have been lots of others now that I know what to expect. But, today was the first day that I realized and could pinpoint what it was. When I push on the right side of my very hard stomach, almost instantly afterwards, there is a flutter of movements :) It is a comforting feeling because before this point, I couldn't tell if the little one was alive and well.

Our next appointment is on the 26th and my doctor always does an ultrasound so I will have new pictures. If she can tell what the sex is, we will have her write it down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope...we want to wait to see what it is until we have people to share it with. I promised my mom that she could be at that ultrasound but she will be out of town until our June 2nd ultrasound so we will all find out together on that day :)

New Baby Pictures!!!

We went to the Genetics Doctor to do some counseling and tests to make sure that the baby does not have Noonan's Syndrome or any form of it as well as some other common disorders! Since my family has a history of some of these disorders, we are taking all the precautions. One of the great things about going through all of these tests is that we get to have extra ultrasounds :)

This past week, we went to one of our extra ultrasounds and got to see the baby in much more detail...Jonathan was like a kid in a candy shop he was so excited!

Our next ultrasound is scheduled for June 3rd, this is when they will take an in depth look at the four chambers of the heart and make sure there are no visible defects. Not that it would matter but it may help us be better prepared in case there was something to worry about.

The more exciting part though, is that it will be such an in depth ultrasound that if we want to know the sex of our baby, we will get to find out early :) And Jonathan DEFINITELY wants to know so I think I will let him have this victory, he has kinda convinced me and now I want to know too! Its so much easier if I know whether or not to buy blue or pink!

The Flowers are Blooming!

Well, I know I talk about flowers and spring a lot, but I just love it! My yard and garden look so fabulous right now with all the rain we got and now the sunshine :) Beautiful blooms are opening up everywhere, its spectacular!

This is a miniature rose bush that we got on clearance last year! It was a twig when we brought it home and now look at it, in full bloom!

The wisteria looks even grander now that it has leaves along with the gorgeous purple flowers!

In our front yard, the azaleas are in FULL bloom, you can hardly see the leaves because there are so many pink flowers...

The pansies are also gladly showing their colors. When we planted them, we were less than two weeks away from getting married so white was on the mind :)

My one Easter decoration is out! The cabbage plants are also blooming, little yellow flowers, who knew cabbage could have such pretty flowers?

Our Japanese Maple is only a year old and its HUGE! Everyone told us it was a slow grower and wouldn't get big fast, but it has doubled its size this past year! The color is its brightest red this time of year!

Don't mind the port-a-potty behind it, they are finishing a brand new home across the street, we are very excited about the prospect of living in a finished neighborhood! Although our newest new neighbors are a tad bit annoying seeing as they own four very large dogs and don't believe in bark collars. We keep to ourselves though so life is great!





I love spring! I wish it could be this beautiful all the time!
