Sebastian found it fascinating to wander around the waiting room yelling "Ba-ll" at everything he saw...we tried to encourage more of a "baby" when he pointed to other children instead of "Ba!" He clocked in at a whopping 23 lbs 14 ounces...which is only a few ounces more than his 9 month visit weigh-in. He DID reach 30 inches!!! He is in the 90th percentile for head circumference, 70th percentile for weight and 70th percentile for height!
They had me fill out this first year questionnaire which I found rather pointless as he was a YES on everything! Does your child pick up objects? Does he pull up on furniture? Does he try to balance standing up without holding onto anything? He's WALKING people....actually RUNNING all over the place. He is well above the average development for other children his age. The pediatrician stated that most 12 month old's have between 1 and 3 vocabulary words...he knows "mama", "dada" and "Ba" so I think we are good there too!
Dr. Craig said that this was the first time he had seen Sebastian so alert and happy! He was so colicy the first 6 months of his life and then in a bad mood at his 9 month visit that this was the first time he has seen him when he wasn't crying.
After the Doctor gave us the all clear..."he's doing great!" speech...the dreaded nurse came in.....Flu Vaccine, Chicken Pox Vaccine, Measles Vaccine and Heb B booster shot! One in each arm and one in each leg...HE WAS PISSED! Thankfully he knew it was the nurses fault not mama's so no hard feels toward me. He was NOT FUN the rest of the day though. Jonathan went with us and encouraged through the whole visit but he would not let ANYONE but Mama hold him for the rest of the day! I was going to take the day off work and snuggle up with him at home BUT there was a crisis at work and so I not only had to go in for a full day but had to stay until 7:30pm last night. It was a very LONG cranky day!
Thankfully, we do not have to go back to that doctor until 18 months old...yay! We see the Allergist on Monday...Dr. Craig agreed that he thought it was a food dye allergy so we will see.
